The answer, of course, as always in poker, is "It depends." It depends what kind of poker games you like to play. How often you want to play. What kind of stakes your bankroll can handle. Whether you play cash games or tournaments.
Do you want to play against the most players you can find? Test your poker skills against the toughest poker pros at the game's highest stakes? Or find the softest, easiest-to-beat games and make a killing, week after week?
When it comes to online poker, thankfully, you can find all of the above. And then some. In fact when you're putting together online poker reviews you can almost go on forever breaking down all of the different pluses and minuses of a particular site or poker network.
But at the end of the day, the best online poker reviews leave you with this:
- The best poker site is the best poker site for you - not necessarily for anyone else.
If you like gambling it up on Jackpot Sit & Gos and punting off a bit of your bankroll on in-game sports bets, there's a poker site for you. Ifyou like grinding out multiple tables at the low-stakes, honing your craft so you can one day become the face sitting at the final table on ESPN's World Series of Poker broadcast, there's a poker site for you, too.
And if you like a poker site with a bit of everything in-between - some Pot-Limit Omaha here, a turbo poker tournament series there, a few bad beat jackpot tables in the mix - there's absolutely something for you as well.
There's a world of great online poker to be had out there; we hope our poker room reviews on PokerRoomsOnline help you find the right one for you. Take each poker site review with a grain of salt, sure. But the more knowledge you have the better decision you can make. And if you don't like that site, try another!
Poker Site Reviews: Opportunity Awaits
During the height of the poker boom there were quite literally hundreds of poker rooms offering their services online looking to cash in on the poker craze begun by Chris Moneymaker’s win in the 2003 World Series of Poker.
With new poker sites popping up almost daily it was genuinely difficult to sort through all the noise, all the suspect poker site reviews, and figure out which poker site to sign up for.
Which ones offer the biggest poker bonuses; which have the best software; which offers the best games; which site offers the best poker tournaments. And importantly: which sites can you trust to pay out your winnings.
Online sites were basically fighting tooth and nail to draw in new players and the sign-up offers were, in a word, unbelievable.
The online poker playing field is a lot different these days. While there are certainly still a lot of poker sites to choose from the market has definitely consolidated into a few leaders and an awful lot of bit players.
By far the biggest poker site is PokerStars, with a dominant position in both traffic and tournament offerings. It offers a massive player pool on PokerStars.com, a slightly smaller one on PokerStars.eu, and a growing, merged poker market for France, Italy and Spain – and US players can play in New Jersey, Nevada and Delaware as of today.
But if you live in a country that’s still part of the global poker pool, you’ll find all the action on PokerStars you could want.
The PokerStars software is the best in the game and with a gigantic game variety and popular features like Zoom Poker and Jackpot Spin & Gos, it’s an easy choice to start up an account at PokerStars and call it a day.
But there are plenty of great sites and good opportunities out there. Coming up closely behind these days is 888poker with a growing player base, a massive commitment to big promotions and recreational players and the biggest sign-up bonus going.
Much improved software and an expanding tournament lineup with ever-bigger guarantees is moving it up the ranks quickly. The 888Live series with very accessible buy-ins and satellites is also drawing in a lot of new poker money.
Whatever your poker preferences, though, you can find a spot to get in the mix online. Small stakes, high stakes, tournament or cash games, SNGs or Double or Nothings … the variety in online poker is virtually bottomless.
It’s only up to you to find it.
US Poker Site Reviews
Let's start with the most obvious elephant in the room - what's the deal with US poker sites these days? If you're looking for US poker site reviews we have a quick look at three poker sites - 888poker, partypoker and PokerStars - that all have US-friendly poker sites now.
The downside? You can only play on them if you live in (or visit) three states:
- New Jersey
Since the passing of the UIGEA way back in 2006 the online poker scene in the US has been tumultuous at best, from the glory days of PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker during the poker boom to the dearth of poker sites available after they were indicted in April of 2011.
Since then a US online poker market has been slowly growing on a state-by-state basis as new legislation and regulation gets passed. It's a slow and tedious process and just Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware have made it out the other side.
There are signs of hope, though. Pennsylvania has recently passed legislation opening the door to online poker in 2019 and beyond. California and New York are also making strides towards licensed online poker.
A new compact agreeing to share player pools amongst all three states has come into play, so that has helped increase overall liquidity and prize pools. It is only a matter of time before a more "whole" and burgeoning online poker climate returns in the US.
In the meantime, though, there are some good options for bonuses, tournaments and cash games at the major sites. Check our reviews right here for more:

Best Poker Reviews - Bonuses, Software, Game Selection
The experts here at PokerRoomsOnline have played millions of hands online at all of the top poker sites. That extensive, hard-earned knowledge has been put to use here in our poker site reviews to help you find the best poker site to foster your own budding poker career.
Before you even get started it’s a good idea to really decide want you want to get out of it and just how much time you really can afford/want to spend playing online poker.
If it’s just a passing fancy and you only expect to drop a few bucks online and splash around a bit, no need to really investigate all of your options thoroughly. Any of the top 3 or 4 sites will offer plenty of action and stakes for when and how much you’re looking to play.
If you’re a bit more of a specialist, though, and like certain types of games (eg Mixed Games or Fast Fold Poker) or tournaments (Turbos, SNGs, MTTs) it’s worth your while to explore the specific offerings of each site a bit more.
PokerStars is certainly the market leader when it comes to traffic and game variety but you’ll find much easier games to beat at a site like 888poker or partypoker.
If you're really just getting started in poker and plan on getting in as many hands as you can, the first thing you might want to look for is a sizeable poker bonus with reasonable clearing requirements.
A lot of sites will make claims of up to $1,000 or $2,000 bonuses but the playing requirements to clear the money are usually so extreme you’ll only ever see a small portion of it.
A smaller bonus at a more reasonable clearing rate and nice match % will often do you much better. 888poker, for example, has a very generous $888 bonus that pays out in two very achievable increments.
PokerStars and PartyPoker both have fairly standard $500 and $600 bonuses, respectively, and are also a good choice for getting an early boost to your bankroll while you get the feel for things.
The Right Poker Site Review For You!
Another important aspect to look for is software that works well and, preferably, looks good. Again, PokerStars is pretty much the standard bearer in the industry but 888poker and partypoker are much improved as well.
If you’re really looking for something different software wise you might want to check out a site like PKR poker, which has animated 3D avatars and a more “social gaming” kind of feel.
Another important aspect of any poker room is that it offers fast and knowledgeable support as well as prompt and reliable payouts. All of these important factors are considered in the PokerRoomsOnline reviews, and you can rest assured that any site listed here lives up to these requirements.
Quite a few of the poker sites operate in the same network as well -- i.e., they use the same basic software and share their players with other poker rooms in the network. This is generally a good thing for the players, as there will be more opponents and games available.
Other sites are independent but still hold their own in terms of player base and promotions. Regardless, the poker room you play in should offer high quality software, a decent number of players and have a solid financial reputation.
Whatever you decide, we hope you have a truly enjoyable experience with online poker. And that our online poker site reviews help you find the right poker home for you!
